About Petal & Stem

Petal & Stem was founded in 2008 by Sarah Whitfield, a lifelong plant lover who left a career in graphic design to pursue her passion for floral artistry. What started as a farmers market flower stand has blossomed into Portland's most beloved florist, known for innovative designs and a commitment to local, seasonal blooms.

Our Approach

We source 80% of our flowers from Pacific Northwest farms within 100 miles of our studio. This means fresher flowers, a smaller carbon footprint, and support for our local farming community. When seasonal availability requires it, we partner with certified sustainable farms in California and South America.

Our Studio

Visit our design studio in the Pearl District to browse our daily selection, pick up a pre-made bouquet, or sit down with one of our designers to plan your event flowers. We also offer weekly floral design workshops for those who want to learn the art themselves.
